Six Times More Measles Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reports Than Measles Cases in 2011

MB Comment: The CDC is out with its latest disease-mongering fear campaign: ‘The United States has had 118 measles cases so far this year, the most for this date since 1996, and close to 90% of them are linked to cases in other countries, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported today … none had encephalitis and none died.’

Sounds scary and makes you want to run out and get a MMR vaccine shot, doesn’t it? The only problem with that hysteria is that there have been 698 FDA Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) reports related to MMR, MMRV (MMR plus varicella) and measles vaccines in 2011 — including 4 deaths and 280 emergency room visits. 698 VAERS reports are almost six times more than the number of measles cases. Keep in mind that former FDA Commissioner David Kessler wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association that “only about 1% of serious adverse events are reported to the FDA.” (JAMA. 1993;269(21):2765-2768. A New Approach to Reporting Medication and Device Adverse Events and Product Problems). So 698 adverse reactions to measles vaccines in 2011 may be just the tip of the iceberg.

But (of course) the FDA and CDC couldn’t care less about VAERS reports or vaccine adverse reaction victims. In fact they would read my comments and declare that all those adverse reactions are coincidences. That is why parents need to do their own homework on safety before getting any vaccine. You can duplicate these VAERS numbers and cases yourself at www.medalerts.org. A few sample 2011 VAERS reports from this analysis are posted below. Please read them and consider the victims. These are probably tomorrow’s autistic kids, as you will notice most of these reports show severe neurological events (encephalitis, meningitis, seizures) shortly after vaccination. This is exactly the catastrophe that parents of autistic kids observe before their children descend into autism. Encephalitis is deemed a coincidence when caused by vaccination, but is declared a public health emergency when caused by a disease. Many of these VAERS reports involve multiple vaccines, which does NOT absolve the MMR vaccine from neurovirulence, rather it indicts the authorities who recommend (and doctors who administer) simultaneous vaccine combinations without any safety studies regarding the consequences. An analogy is: You were the victim of a multi-vehicle, chain-reaction, hit-and-run accident on the Atlanta freeway and you don’t know which CDC official, drug company executive or pediatrician driver caused the accident, because they all fled the scene of the crime.

It’s just gives me chills when i read those stories about little children who were exposed to vaccines and who’s lives are changed forever. I am very scared of all these diseases but had no vaccine shots for my 9 m.o., i hope that one day (SOON) our medical society will come up with something safe and stop ruining kid’s and family’s lives.

You don’t have to be super afraid of these diseases. Vaccinations can be helpful for kids who eat a poor diet. Feed your kids healthy foods, make sure they get their d vitamins somehow (my kiddos take fermented cod liver oil- mixed wit a bit of black strap molasses and some raw milk and chased with water) and do a bunch of research on these things. People seem to be most afraid of tetanus. But it’s really only older diabetic people with poor circulation who need to worry about that. The tetanus bacteria will not survive at all in an oxygenated environment. Blood has oxygen in it. If you get a cut or a puncture wound, clean it. Done. If you have really bad circulation and your blood is not pumping around your foot and you get a puncture, then yeah, worry, but that is not the case for most people, especially not kids.
So really, don’t be afraid…that’s just playing into all the fear mongerring…just do your research and feel confident that you’re keeping your kids safe in the best way you know how.
OH! I would recommend indoor plumbing and clean water too…if you don’t have those things…maybe consider vaccinating. :-P

  5. Andreja says:

Did you register the fact that none of the patients who got measels died nor had encephalitis?!? Healthy people and kids have no problems to heal from most children diseases. But what about all those who will have lifelong consequences after getting a shot against something not very problematic?!?

  7. crystal achey says:

in 2011 the total measles outbreaks in the U.S. alone came to 222 according to the CDC website… no one died & 32% were hospitalized… perhaps without the vaccinations, there could have been more… the CDC is clearly emphasizing that the majority of the incidences in the U.S. were imported … however, we should ALL be alert to what the actual numbers of SERIOUS adverse reactions at least although I’m confident there are health weakening, debilitating aspects to the whole vacc program are in general, that’s what i’m concerned about personally… no one denies that adverse reactions happen, it’s just a matter of to what degree & taking the time to make an informed decision by weighing the options as much as possible… not everyone wants to do that, but i love to analyze stuff… it’s really about making sure these manufacturers are really producing safe products… they’ve been given immunity from responsibility & if you suffer an adverse reaction, you don’t get to sue them, if it’s necessary… not that that is good or bad, but it’s about knowing how it works… the U.S. government has a vaccine injury system… i still don’t know that much about it, but i DO know that the pharmaceuticals have immunity from being held responsible for adverse reactions at this time

so looking at the MMR (i had trouble finding the figures for the total SERIOUS adverse events associated with the MMR for 2011 alone) but i did use the NVIC website to figure the total numbers as reported to VAERS since 1990… it said, “Found 6355 events where Vaccine is MMR and Serious”… now this is supposed to be at best 10% of the real number of actual SERIOUS adverse events (there were more, but not considered serious)… & not all adverse events are reported to VAERS & my calculations indicate that the average annual serious adverse reaction to the MMR is appx an avg of 2890 people in 2011… deaths due to the vaccine were reported (at least 4 in 2011 according to this piece)… compare that to 222 incidences of measles in 2011 & the liklihood of death from measles (no deaths in 2011)… again, perhaps without the widely used vaccination, there may have been more incidences of measles…. how would you place your bet based on these numbers?

i hope anyone reading this will feel that they have some more solid numbers to go on… please check these out for yourself & dig into other numbers that you feel may be of importance on the issue… there are many levels in which to look at this issue before deciding if you want to allow your children to be vaccinated

note: i have not checked the incidences/death & morbidity of rubella & mumps, to be fair, those should be looked at too re: the decision to allow your child to receive the MMR vacc … the number of deaths & incidences from the measles prior to & after the intro & wide use of the vaccination could be looked at as well, before deciding… oh, and look at the Merck & GlaxoSmithCline VAERS reports… i think those two particular pharmaceutical companies have vaccine brands that tend to cause more adverse reactions than the competitors versions… but, again, i have not looked tooo deeply into those comparisions… i just highly recommend YOU do… Merck (Vioxx) & Glaxo (Avandia) seem to have bad track records in general, so be sure to learn about their vaccine products & consider asking your doctor for a different brand if available… some docs are suggesting the single measles shot is less likely to result in an adverse reaction… so you might want to ask about that… whewww … go well!

  8. Christina Waldman says:

Adding the varicella (chickenpox) to the MMR to make MMV adds one febrile seizure per 1000 children over giving the MMR and varicella shots separately on the same day. A survey was done of doctors, many of whom did not know of this added febrile seizure risk. The Abstract concludes: After learning of the risk, few said they would still give the vaccine, [despite its still being recommended by the ACIP/AAFP/AAP.]
